How To Care For Leather Furniture With Moisturizer

Leather furniture is extremely durable and can add a touch of sophistication to a room. However, to ensure that the furniture lasts for years to come, it needs regular cleaning as well as conditioning. By regularly moisturizing the leather, it will stay soft, supple and flexible always. While there are many leather cleaning products available in the market and online, not all of them contain conditioner. This necessitates buying the conditioner and moisturizer separately. However, you can make your own conditioner at home.

Use a soft brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner to clean up dust and dirt from the furniture. If you like, you can even use a shoe brush.

Mix one part white vinegar and 2 parts olive oil. Instead of olive oil, you can also use linseed oil. Blend the vinegar and oil mixture well with a spoon, so that the two ingredients combine together.

Now take a clean soft cloth. Dip it in the mixture. Squeeze out excess solution from the cloth. Wipe the entire leather surface with the cloth. Make sure that you wipe the cloth evenly, so that a thin film is formed over the entire surface. Leave the film overnight.

The following day use another clean soft cloth to buff the leather thoroughly. Use circular movements while buffing. This will help to remove excess oil from the leather surface, while ensuring that it shines.

If you do this cleaning regularly, you will always have a shine and gloss on your Leather furniture and you will not need to use any commercial products to protect or clean the furniture. The cleaning solution is gentle on the leather and will not damage it. Instead it will prevent dust from gathering on the leather surface and will help to keep the leather soft and supple.

While there are commercial conditioners available in the market, they can work out to be quite expensive or may not have the desired result on your Leather furniture. Make a homemade conditioner solution using white vinegar and olive oil to help keep the furniture in good condition.
