How to Moisturize Kinky Hair

For any woman, her hair is her crowning glory. Unfortunately not all women have smooth and soft hair. There are some who have what is known as kinky hair. This hair type can occur due to genetics or even due to the weather. However, if this hair type is nourished and maintained well, it can be as smooth and lustrous as any hair type.

First shampoo your hair with a moisturizing shampoo to get rid of oil build-up and dirt. Make sure that you select a moisturizing shampoo especially formulated for your hair type. Otherwise you will not have shiny soft hair after washing. Also, do not wash hair every day. It will strip the hair of its natural oils and make it prone to frizzing and damage. Wash once a week.

Make sure that you never forget to condition your hair. While it is okay not to shampoo, use conditioner without fail. The best conditioner for this type of hair is a diluted protein moisturizing conditioner. Apply the conditioner into your scalp and work it towards the hair tips. This will ensure that each strand is coated with the conditioner. If you want you can get this conditioner in the form of a spray bottle to make application easier. Also, remember to deep condition your hair twice a month to keep it well moisturized and shiny.

Apply light oils on hair, such as jojoba or olive oil. Leave the oil on for 15 minutes before washing it off with water. Then apply a leave-in conditioner that does not contain any alcohol. This will keep your kinky hair moisten and also prevent the strands from splitting. After putting the conditioner, comb your hair with a wide-toothed comb to prevent frizzing and breakage. Allow your hair to air dry. You can even blow dry your hair, as long as the heat setting is at its lowest.

Kinky hair can be moisturized using all the methods described above. If you use these methods, you will have shiny and radiant hair, and no longer would worry about frizz and tangles.
