Lets Talk About Winter Interior House Painting

During this holiday season, and with the Winter months just ahead of us, painting the interior of your home can help lift your spirits and fill up some of that extra time. Now that it's getting a bit too cold to do much outside, especially if you live in the east, there is no excuse for not getting those inside projects completed. I've always liked this time of year, but a lot of people go through what's called the "Winter Blahs", and they would rather hibernate instead of being proactive. I'm guilty of this sometimes, too.

You are likely to get better deals on painting services during the colder months due to painting services being traditionally seasonal. Winter is when businesses slow down for painting contractors and as a result, are usually willing to offer a reduced rate for the same job.

If you carry out the job during the coldest months, you will likely spend an unnecessary amount on heating appliances. This is because you will need to air out the fumes from the interior painting, bringing in cold air to your home which you subsequently have to heat up.

Paint an "accent wall" in a bright hue where the others can be white or neutral to add a dramatic look. Or, you can paint the primary walls with a soft beige color then paint the accent wall three shades darker.

Consider the ceiling to be the fifth wall of a room. Pain it with white or with a lighter shade of the wall color. As the contrast between the ceiling color and the wall color has been softened, the result will be a room that looks larger. In a case of small room, such as a bathroom, the ceiling may even be painted with the same color as the walls to make it appear bigger.
