Wooden Shutters Care Tips 2012

Nowadays, a lot of people are installing wooden shutters in their homes because they are attractive and provide a lot of functionality that any other window covers isn't able to do so.

However, the wood used on the shutter is still perishable and would do so quickly if some measures aren’t taken to protect the material.

The following lines provide information on things which shouldn’t be done.

The first thing which should be noted is that sun and heat are the topmost enemies of the wood but these have to constantly tackle with sun rays in the whole day.

If the shutters are exposed a lot to the sun, then it is important to paint them in a light color because dark colors trap in more heat thereby harming the wood on the shutter.

Actually, the heat expands the wood and makes it cracks which then makes the wood susceptible to insects and water which completely damages the shutter.

Moreover, the water is also amongst the worst enemies of wood which makes it important not to let water keep standing on the shutters.

When water sweeps inside the wood and moist is formed inside it then the wood becomes rotten and gets damaged sooner or later.

The user should just use some damp fabric on wet wooden shutters and dry them by wiping to clear off all the water. Another thing to keep in mind is not to use any harsh chemicals or solutions for cleaning the shutters as that can remove the wood finish.

Moreover, these also have a negative effect on the family’s health because the chemicals can spread in the house and later cause problems or medical situations.
